The following Patterson line was found in Talledega Co., Al. Info sent to me by Scott Bethune

John, Eliza, and William, children of
   Alexander Patterson and Sarah Bethune
Parents of Alexander-"Buffalo" Daniel Patterson, (b. 1763), and
Margaret Graham (b. 1764), daughter of John Graham and Elizabeth
     Smilie.

     Parents of Buffalo-John Patterson, (b. 1730, Scotland, d.1812,
Moore Co., N.C and Isabel McDuffie, daughter of Daniel McDuffie
     and Marian Lindsay.

Parents of Sarah Bethune- Colin Bethune, b. 1756, d. 1820 (immigrated
from Skye between 1771-74 to the Upper Cape Fear Cumberland Co., N.C.
     and Mary Patterson Bethune, (b. 1752, d. 1846).

Parents of Colin-John Bethune (returned from Kintyre to Skye).
and daughter of the McLeod of Raasay.

Parents of John- Ferguhard Bethune (removed from Skye to Kintyre).
     and Isobel McEachran of Kilellan.
Father of Isobel- Colin McEachran of Kilellan.

Mother of John Patterson(b. 1730)- Catherine, who emigrated with her
     four sons from Argyshire, Scotland).

Alexander Patterson- Unfortunately, I know very little about him. I got
a lot of this info while researching my own family out of a Patterson
book in the Hoke Co., N.C. Library.

Buffalo Patterson- son of John and Isobel McDuffie, left N.C. to move to
Talledega, Al.

Daniel McDuffie- Some exerpts from his will are on the Cumberland Co.,
Genweb Site under " this and that."

Sarah Bethune Patterson- b. 1795, d. abt. 1830. As you can see Sarah and
Alexander were first cousins. This would not be excepted today, but, back
in the early 1800's this was not at all uncommon. As a matter of fact, my
ggg- grandfather Lauchlin Bethune(Sarah's brother), married Anne Patterson,
(Alexander Patterson's sister)and had eleven children.Sarah came from a good
family. Her brother, Lauchlin served many terms in the N.C. State House of
Representatives and in the U.S. Congress. Her Sister Mary Bethune married
John MacLeod and they moved to Miss., were he was involved in the first
legislature of Miss.

I will also note that the Bethune history that I have indicates that
Sarah's oldest sister Catherine (Katie), b. 1784, d. 1856, never married,
but moved to Al. with Buffalo Patterson and adopted Sarah's three children.

There is orphan court records dealing with the four children. It mentions
George McDuffie Patterson and references Catherine Bethune.
I also found this:
"Alexander Patterson married a first cousin Sarah Bethune, dau. of his
fathers sister Mary Patterson Bethune. Both died very young and left
several children who were reared by their Patterson and Bethune relatives.
One of these children were William C. Patterson, resident of Sylacauga, Al.
where all of them had been taken as children, was the father of a rather
noted character, Billy Patterson, who died in Dallas Tx. in the late 1920's.
And that many of Buffalo Patterson's children died of Consumption."
This came from the book, "Correspondence and Documents of Scottish Highland
Families of North Carolina."
