Valentine Wreath.
Made with scraps of material or Paper


Castle Valentine Holder
square tissue box
four paper towel tubes
red poster paint
paintbrush
white glue
black, red and pink construction paper
black pipe cleaner
scissors
newspaper to work on

Trim the four paper towel tubes so that they are 3 inches taller than the tissue box.
Cut eight evenly spaced, 1 inch slits around the top of each tube.
Fold in every other tab around each tube to form the castle turrets.
Glue a tube on each corner of the box to make the castle.
After the glue has dried, paint the castle red.
Cut a door and windows for the castle from black paper and glue them on.
Cut hearts from the red and pink paper to decorate the castle.
Cut a triangle flag and write your name on it.
Cut a small red heart to glue on next to your name then glue the flag to one end of a black pipe cleaner.
Glue the flag on one side of the castle.

Valentine Crown

conversation heart candies or shiny valentine stickers

Cut a slit across the middle of the plate. Staring about 1 inch inside the outer rim and stopping about an inch inside the rim on the opposite side of the plate.
Srarting in the center of the plate, cut four more slits to create six pie-shaped sections.
Fold the sections up to make a crown.
Paint the plate red on both sides and let it dry.
Decorate the crown by gluing conversation hearts or stickers on each point.

Valentine Puppet
red construction paper
scissors
white glue
four large rubber bands
newspaper to work on
markers

Cut two hearts the same size from red construction paper. Make them bigger than your hand.
Cut four 1-inch hearts from the red paper for the pupets hands and feet.
Cut each of the rubber bands so that they form long elastic strings.
Glue the rubber bands to the sides and bottom of one of the large hearts to form the arms and legs of the puppet.
Glue the tops of the two large hearts together with the ends of the rubber bands between them. Leave the bottom part open to slip your hand in.
Glue a small heart to the end of each elastic arm and leg.
This happy heart puppet loves to swing its arms and legs around.

Valentine Mouse
red & pink construction paper
scissors
stapler
black marker
white glue
flat lollipop

Fold a piece of red construction paper and cut a half heart about 3 1/2 inches high on the fold.
Leave the heart folded to form the body of the mouse.
Cut a smaller heart from the red paper for the head of the mouse.
Cut a slit about halfway up from the point of the heart.
Wrap two sides of the slit around to form a cone nose and staple them in place.
Use a black marker to draw eyes and a nose.
Staple the head to the pointed end of the heart body.
Staple the rounded end of the body so that it forms a pocket.
Cut a tiny heart from red paper. Write PULL on the heart and glue it to the stick end of the lollipop.
Cut a heart from the pink paper to cover the lollipop. Write your valentine message on this heart and glue it over the wrapper.
Tuck the lollipop into the body of the mouse so that the stick end is sticking out to form the tail of the mouse.
Make a mouse for each of your friends.

Playing Card Valentine Man
old deck of playing cards
red pipe cleaners
red construction paper
black marker
stapler
round ball lollipop for each favor

For each favor you will need a heart playing card for the front and an extra card to use as the� back. Only the back of this card will show.
Cut arms and legs from red pipe cleaners. Hold them in place by stapling them between the two� playing cards.
Cut a heart-shaped head from red construction paper and draw on a face with a black marker.
Staple the head to the top of the card man.
Cut a smaller heart and write the name of the friend you are giving the favor to on the heart.
Poke it onto one of pipe cleaner hands.
Wrap the other arm around a lollipop. Bend the bottom of the pipe cleaner legs to form feet.
With a little bending and arranging of the legs, these figures will stand up if you wish to use� them as table favors at a party.

Cut out different sized, smaller hearts from red and pink paper ( a whole bunch of them ). Then glue the hearts� all over the plate to make a valentine wreath. Make bows� with some ribbon.


Valentine's (playing) Cards
Got an� old deck of cards?� I just found this and only one week ago I threw away 5 old decks...AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!�
Pull out all the heart cards and poke holes in� appropriate places for arms and legs...push some pipe cleaners through the� holes for arms and legs. Paste a cut out valentine on for a head and decorate� with eyes and mouth. Have the 'hand' hold a lollipop...and pass to a favorite friend for a special valentine.� You can try to get the cards to stand up!!!!

House of Hug Banner
Create a big hug made from butcher paper.� Trace the hand of one of the kids and attach to the sides of the banner. Use a paper Plate to create a head for the top of the middle of the banner.
Write the following diddy accross the banner.

��� I'll give you three guesses, 1, 2, 3.
��� There!� I knew you'd think of me!!

��� Hugs from me just for you
��� Hugs to keep you from feelin' blue

Loving Coupons
Make up little coupons saying what the kids will do out of love for their parents. Back rubs, take out the trash, read to them.....

Heart Flowers
Red, pink and green construction paper

Popsickle sticks (Walmart has a huge box (1000) of "craft sticks" for about $3.
Markers

Cut out hearts (either red or pink) for the flower.� Cut out two smaller green� hearts for the leaves.� Glue the flower to the top of the Popsickle stick and� the leaves to the middle of the Popsickle stick.� Draw a face on the flower
and give as a gift to your friend or parent!

Heart Rubbings
Cut out different sizes of hearts from sandpaper.� Tape hearts to table and� lay a sheet of white typing paper over them.� Use side of crayon to lightly rub over hearts, making a pattern on paper.

Stuffed Heart
Draw a large heart on construction paper.� Cut out and staple all� around, leaving a small opening.� Let kids decorate their hearts with� fingerpaint, markers, or other smaller hearts from construction paper.� After drying, stuff with crumpled newspaper.� Staple opening� shut.� Cut long pieces of pink or red crepe paper streamers and, making a� tail, staple to bottom point of heart.

Heart Puzzle
Cut a large heart from red or pink tagboard.� Cut into several pieces,� Have kids put their puzzle together.
After they are done playing you can have them make a card out of the puzzle peices.� You can use a phrase like, You'll break my heart, (on the front) if you won't be my Valentine (on the inside)."

Heart Pin
Use the following recipe for playdough to make a heart shaped pin.� Make� the dough - then shape into hearts.� Before the heart is dry press pins into� back of hearts.� When the heart is completely dry, paint with valentine� colors.
Playdough - For above recipe
� 1 cup flour
� 1 cup warm water
� 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
� 1 teaspoon oil
� 1 cup salt
� Red Food coloring
Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last.� Stir over medium heat until� smooth.� Remove from the pan and knead until blended smooth.� Leftovers can be� placed in an airtight container when cooled.� Will last for a long time.

Valentine Holder

� 1 and 1/2 Styrofoam plate (for each child)
� Stapler
� Hole Punch
� Colored Yarn
� Kids Plastic Sewing Needle
�Turn � plate upside down on the full plate.� Staple in 2 - 3 spots around the� edge to keep it from slipping.� Hole punch through both plates all around the� sides the 2 plates touch.� Show them how to sew their plates together and then decorate with stickers or� whatever. Hang them up with ribbon and use them as mailboxes.


Mailman, Mailman Where's my Mail?

� Everyone gets to participate in this game involving a hidden valentine.� Choose one child to be postman and give him or her the mailman's hat. (Red� strip of paper with pink heart that says mailman.)� The mailman must hide his/her eyes while you give another child a valentine to hide behind their back.� Then the mailman uncovers his/her eyes and faces his/her classmates who say, "Mailman,� mailman, where's the mail?"� The mailman gets three guesses to find out who is� hiding the mail.� If he/she guesses correctly, he/she continues as postman.� If he/she� guesses incorrectly, the person with the mail becomes the mailman.

Who has my heart??
Cut out several hearts using red, pink and purple construction paper.� Cut them in half, varying the cut (zig zag, curvy, etc...)� Scatter them on the floor and have the kids pick out a half and then try to find its mate. You can do this relay style too. Start each kid off with a half in their hand. Create 2 teams and let kids relay to find their match. firt team to get all their matches wins.

Post Office
Make classroom post office by gluing together shoe boxes that the children� have decorated.� Have children write their name on small cards.� Glue one� card on each box.� Children make valentines for each other.� Give children
heart stencils of different sizes to trace, doilies, ribbons, glitter,� construction paper, and so on.� Let them create. Put Valentines in post boxes.

Heartshaped Krispie Treats
Make normal recipe of rice krispie treats, but add red food coloring to butter/marshmallow
�mixture, cut out with heart cookie cutters.� If you do not have heart cutters you can either use a knife to cute them out or cut out a square and shape with your hands.

Heartshaped cupcakes (This is a geat idea!)
Make cupcake batter as directed on the package. Pour batter into cucake liners. Take a peice of foil and form a ball about the size of a marble and shove it down along the side of the cup, between the cup and the pan to form the round top of a heart.� these look real unique and are so simple. Ice with red or pink icing and you have heart shaped cupcakes!
