I love it!!! This is truly wonderful, I homeschooled by 3; who have now graduated. I have been working as a preschool teacher, but giving some thought to opening my own day care. Your site is very informative, I am taking copies to my college teacher an classmates, taking courses in Learning Environment and Program Management, I like to pass on your Web site to others. Another tip that really worked for us in homeschooling, after sticking to the old system of learning 30-45 minutes a subject my kids, p eferred a subject a day, we really got more out of it, more depth, and not press to move on to the next subject, they seemed to have learned more and besides they chosed it just like their own curriculum, I took them to homeschool conventions, and purchased the curriculum of their choosing, they were now accountable sinc they saw how expensive a book was, they made sure to use it. I gave my children when they got older the choice if to continue homeschooling; they always wanted to continue, It has been a beautiful experience for us as a family, the unity, the freedom, r spect for each other, and growth in our spiritual walk. Words can't express the gratitude I feel, for all of your hard work. A world of "THANKS" goes out to you for your time and information. There is one question I'ld like for you to answer if you can. What do you include in your newsletters if you do those? I have been open since "97", but still have problems getting business. I work a full-time day job and advertise for night(Aug.21 - June 4). During the summer, I'm open 24 hrs. I don't like to keep advertising in the paper because it is expensive. I do get calls but nothing has materialized as of yet. I do tell parents that I'm going back to work in Aug. 21. Is that a mistake? I feel that I should inform them of that valuable information. It's honesty. Please respond. I loved this site. You've done an AWESOME job and a great service to all of us who teach or care for children. I'm the Director and teacher at a Christian Pre-School and I will use some of your materials as well as pass it on to my teachers for ideas. Favorite tip: To get children's attention: clap your hands, slap your lap, snap your fingers in a pattern. "clap, clap, slap" for example. At first the children will stop and look at you to figure out what and why you are doing this. After they are use to it, they will automatically stop what they are doing, look at you and copy the pattern themselves. Vary the pattern each time and it will work for a long time. I never have to raise my voice to get the children's attention.

I think you must be very well organized. I cannot get my website to do what I want it to!! Frustrating. So, I gave up. I love watching my "children". I have a great set of parents. They all seem to appreciate me and the children love me. Who could sk for a better job than that. I have been doing this for 5 years. It was rough at the beginning, you know, taking ANYONE who came along. But, I learned to interview better and to have the confidence to endure an opening, no matter how long it might ta e to fill. I watch 9 children. I am licensed for 8 but, two boys share a slot. I have a 4.5 m.o., a 16 m.o., a 24 m.o., 2.5 y.o., 3.5 y.o, 2 4 y.o. and 2 6.5 y.o. It is a lot of fun. My house is almost the way I want it and the families like the fact that I have a "designated" area for the daycare. I have a nursery, huge play area, gazebo, playroom, and we eat and do our preschool and crafts at the big dining table. I live in an area where status is extremely important. Many people do not feel they are doingright by their children unless they are in a center or inpreschool at 2 y.o. To find well education, wealthy families who think my humble home is the BEST place for their little treasure is the greatest compliment. I was not always into children. I gave it two months. Either they would hate me or I would hate them. But, here I am -- loving every day! I used to be a chef, then a catering director, and finally a legal secretary. No experience is for nothing, though, and I use my accumulated skills each day to run a successful business. This year I will make over $52k and I would not have made that as legal secretary. Even if the money stunk, I would have to do this because I feel so passionate about the future of our country. These children are at risk fromthe time they wake up. If it isn't someone being mean to them at school it is a careless rem rk of a teacher or parent, or it might be some evil on TV like Pokemon! Who knows. But, I am their best defense while they are still little and can prepare them to know right from wrong and give them the values which will shape the future character of o r country. I love all of your ideas! I too was a Daycare Provider before moving to Alabama. I had a Home License for 12 children. Although I did not have it in my home (I rented a premises) I was able to take my children with me, and enjoyed that immensely. I wa deeply saddened when my husband was transferred to AL and I had to sell my business and leave my families. But I soon found out the preschool that my 3 yr. daughter attends was in need of teachers. I jumped at the chance to work with children again. I have been developing my own curriculum for my preschool program, and stumbeled across your website. (I am very new at this) It was good to see someone put all of this stuff together. I have been in daycare for 13 years, I started out just as you stated, helping out a frind BABYSITTING.
