House of Hugs Annual "Bear Day"

On Bear day we will all bring teddy bears from home. I have all the kids even the before and after school kids bring any bear type books movies etc. to share for the day too. I have a rather large bear (see below) that I put in the corner and as the kids come in they put their bears in my bears lap. All the kids wear clothing that has bears on them, a prerequistie to come to my daycare (NOT! hehehe). Everything that day has something to do with bears, honey toast for snack, berries at lunch time...you get the picture, right? Bear Day!

Bear Tea Party
We have a tea party with real china, and tea cakes. Even the bears get to sit at the table and dine with us. The kids feel so grown up. The day before we make bear placemats for this occasion. When we are done I take portraits of the kids by ALL the bears, and hte child holds their own bear.

Bear Awards
We have contests with our bears. I make up different catagories so that each child's bear wins an award, Biggest Bear, Roundest bear, best dressed bear, most colorful bear, Happiest Bear,Tallest Bear, Silliest Bear, Bear with the Biggest nose, Most Hugged Bear etc... We measure the bears and record that on the certificate. I hold on to these and when I have my pictures developed I add the picture of the child and bear and laminate it for the parents!
