Ancestors of Peggy C (Fuller) Keen

Note: �To my knowledge, I am the first genealogist to present the George Fuller line of �Russell, Buchanan, and Dickenson Counties, Virginia, as being descendants of Henry and Catherine (Salling) Fuller from Caswell County, NC. � I have researched the "George Fuller³, son of �Henry Fuller²" line for over two years, and all the evidence I have found, point to this fact. �I recently discovered there were court documents in Roane County to support my belief. �According to these documents, the Revolutionary War Veteran George Fuller, Sr, had sons named Thomas and John. �An 1850 document list sons John and Thomas, along with three daughters , as "living in Virginia." �Should anyone have documentation to prove me wrong, please contact me. �-----Pck. 2/28/98

� � � � � According to my research, Henry Fuller² was the son of �John¹ and Sarah Fuller. �He was born in Baltimore County Maryland abt 1717. �He had a brother, Nehemiah Fuller and possibly a sister named Sarah. �

� � � � � When Henry and Nehemiah left Maryland, they headed for North Carolina. �Nehemiah went all the way, but Henry stopped in Augusta County Virginia. �There he married Catherine Salling, daughter of John Peter Salling, the explorer. �Henry and Catherine were married on April 15, 1751. They moved to Orange Co NC, to what became Caswell Co, NC, in 1777. �Henry died in Caswell County North Carolina in 1790.�They had 14 children, the first three may have been born in Virginia :

Keziah Fuller b abt 1768, married Jethro Reynolds in Orange County NC abt 1789. They lived in Roane Co Tn;
John Salling Fuller b 1751, married Susannah Clayton on December 9, 1778 in Caswell County, NC;
Peter Fuller b 1753, m Jane Rosebrough in 1781;
Elizabeth Fuller b 1755 married James Rankin;
Mary Fuller b 1757;
Henry Fuller b 1759. �

Abraham Fuller b December 27, 1763 in Orange Co, NC, married Mary Sargent on Feb 6 , 1786, he died in Russell County Virginia on Nov 15, 1836; �
Stephen Fuller b 1766 m 1st Mary ??, 2nd Elnor "Ellen" Daly;
Isaac Fuller b 1767, m Elizabeth Clayton in 1794;
Ann Fuller b 1769;
Isaiah Fuller b 1773. (twin?) m Easter ?? then Patsey Williams;
Jacob Fuller, �b 1773 (twin?) m 1st Mary Duty in 1793, 2nd Sarah "Sally" Dupee in 1796 in Rockbridge Co Virginia. Jacob died in Lexington Virginia on May 8, 1848.

� � � � � George Fuller³, son of Henry and Catherine Salling Fuller, was born between 1756 and 1761. �In the line of children, he was born in 1761. �He died in Roane County, Tennessee on March 16, 1848. His grave marker gives age 91. According to this, he would have been born sometime after March 16, 1756 and�before March 16, 1757. The year of his birth would also determine the location of his birth. It is widely written he was born in Caswell Co, NC. This would be impossible!! Caswell Co did not exist until 1777. This would make his birth place Orange Co, NC and since it is close to the time Henry and Catherine left Augusta County, VA, It is possible he was born in VA!! �He enlisted in the NC Continental Line in May of 1781. �He served for a period of one year, and was in the battle at Eutaw Springs, South Carolina. He married probably in NC to Nancy??. The earliest record of him being in Russell County is a deed recorded in 1796, when he purchased land on Cedar Creek. �By that time he would have been abt 40 years of age. �We know his son John Fuller⁴, my ancestor was born in NC in abt 1795-1796. His son Thomas was born in VA in 1797. �It would seem likely, he already had several children older than John and Thomas. �Mrs. Wilcox also states in her book that our ancestor, George Fuller came "from Scotland." �I have found no evidence to support this. I have, however, found evidence to support my belief �that John and Thomas's father, George, was indeed the Revolutionary War Soldier that moved to Roane County, TN. �I believe the "from Scotland" comes from the fact that the place where Henry Fuller lived in Augusta County VA, was the Scotch-Irish Settlement of Virginia.

� � � � � George Fuller³moved to Roane County, TN around 1821. �His first wife, Nancy, died there between 1840 and 1842. �She is listed with him in the 1840 census. �He married Hollin Johnson in Roane County on March 15, 1842. �It is from Court Records in Roane County that we get names of children of George Fuller:

� � � � � John Fuller⁴ son of George Fuller³was born in NC abt 1795-1796. �His family moved to Russell County VA when he was in infant. John was the first Fuller to move to what is now Dickenson County VA. �John and Lucretia �were the parents of �eight children:
