Spaghetti Sauce

1 lb. ground beef or equivalent tvp
1 T. olive oil
1 large onion chopped fine
3 cloves garlic minced
2 pints canned tomatoes
2 6 oz. cans tomato paste
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
1 1/2 t. dried crushed oregano
1 t. dried crushed sweet basil
1 bay leaf

Brown ground beef with onion and garlic in olive oil. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 2 hours. Remove bay leaf before serving over boiled spaghetti.

This is terrific spaghetti sauce, the secret is the sugar. You can also use it as lasagna sauce.
