Edward travelled to Virginia with his wife, Maria, child, Margaret Jane, and a servant, Sarah McGee. They moved from Shillebaugh, VA, where their second child Henry Richard was born, to Lynchburg, VA.
In 1822, Maria took the children and Sarah back to Ireland and as late as November 1822, she was living with or near William Atkinson in Glenanne, County Armaugh according to a letter written to Maria from Edward Atkinson. Edward died in Lynchburg that same year. Maria died in Newry, County Down in 1833.
Their children lived with family members and Henry would return to the U.S. in 1842 and settle in Allegany County, MD.
