Keith and Lee on top of Mt Lafeyette.  5286 feet, the high point of our trip.  Mt Washington in the background is 55??? ft.

The wind had picked up.  With our wind gage we measured 30 to 40 mph winds.  Air temp was 26 deg F.  It was cold!

After a long hike we reach Mt Garfield.  Lee is standing in front of a grand view.  Behind him you can see the peaks we have climbed.  From left to right, Flume, Liberty, Lincoln, and Lafeyette.
Night 3.  The Garfield shelter.  Lee is a happy camper, nice and warm in his sleeping bag.  Dinner in bed!!

These shelters are very busy, but we had it to ourselves this night.  Not even a mouse!  The log book has signatures every day - even in the middle of the winter!!!

This is the end of Lee's photos because Lee's digital camera got wet and stopped working.  (It took 2 days to dry out and start working again)  A word of caution for other winter campers.  Before putting that hot water bottle in your sleeping bag, let it set for a minuet and retighten the cap.  Ice can prevent it from sealing tight just after filling.

Last night was a balmy 26 deg F.

We hiked out the next day.    In the car we first noticed our terrific sunburns.  What a souvenir to remember our fine weather.
