January 31, 1988.  The Wonder Years premires on ABC immediately following the Super Bowl
March 11,1988:  Robert McFarlane, fromer nation Security Advister, pleads guilty in Iran Contra case.
May 1, 1988:  Magnum P.I. ends its network run after 162 episodes.
May 16, 1988:  Soviet troops begin pulling out of Afghanistan.
