I was born February 21, in the year 1846 on the Gronseth farm. In May 1869, I traved from Kristiania to America. The trip over the ocean took a very long time. In Glasgow, Scotland, we had to wait eleven days for the boat. After that we were seventeen days and nights on board a bad steamship before we landed in New York. I left there immediately and came to Gul Ingeboe in Vernon Township, Dodge County, south of Kasson, Minnesota, on June 14, 1869. There I made my home and worked for two years. In the fall of 1871 I was married to J�rand Gislegaard at East St. Olaf Church by Pastor Thorson. For five or six years I rented land on shares and then in 1877 I bought a farm in Sergeant Township in Mower County. We have lived here since and belong to the Evanger congregation of the Norwegian Synod. In our marriage we have had ten children. One boy and six girls are still alive. Sigdalslag 1914. |
