| Misc. Notes |
| Dina was born in Norway in 1856 and was three years old when she made the trip across the sea to America with her parents. She settled with them in Fillmore County, MN and moved with them to Trondhjem Township in 1869. She married Gulbrand Velo in 1875 when she was 19 years old. They lived on a farm northwest of South Immanuel Church. One night, in 1876, only about a year after they were married, lightening struck and killed Gulbrand. The jolt also struck Dina, who was unhurt, but had apparently killed their unborn baby. Dina waded across a creek in the dark to seek help from neighbors. Gulbrand was 27 years old. Dina married Halvor Moen a year after Gulbrand died. |
