They can help to reinforce local character and strengthen a sence of place. Environmental Education Trees and woods are living laboratories and can make inspiring outdoor classrooms. *Sustainable development Trees and timber are a renewable resource, but in towns they bring the added value of an improved physical environment. They encourage a sustainable life style.

Changes at the Lindsborg Regional Tree Growing-Out Station
Aside from the trees growing larger and looking great, the station is seeing some personnel changes. Wes will no longer be doing as much physical work at the station. The City of Lindsborg will be doing much of the coordinating of tree pick up and tree potting. They have the Great Lindsborg Tree Board to help them. The KUFC will be taking a greater role in the distribution process and paper work that is associated with the SHARE THE SHADE program. Wes has agreed to become the Director of Development for the KUFC and will be spending more of this time finding money, establishing relationships with other agencies/groups and giving us the push we need to become a totally self-supporting organization. The Kansas Forest Service has and continues to be a great supporter of the KUFC and we continue to strengthen our relationship with them. YOU should not notice any drop in the number of trees you can request for your project.

		Oak trees: Northern Red, Shumard, Sawtooth White & Bur. Hawthorn, Redbud, River Birch, Red Maple, Thornless Honey Locust, Scotch Pine, Hackberry, Green Ash.

		Exact pick up dates for fall planting will be announced, but you can plan on the later part of September going into October for your volunteer project!
