James Rowland Duke (1854-1926) and Laura C. Darrington (1851-1934)

James Rowland Duke was born in July 1854 in Heard County, the son of Willis W. Duke and Mary Ann Hagler. James grew up on the family farm in the Franklin District, and about 1877 he married Laura C. Darrington (born October 1851), daughter of Charles Darrington and Elizabeth Rowe. James and Laura Duke raised their family in the Rockalo District of Heard County, and died there in 1926 and 1934, respectively. 5. John H. W. Duke, born April 7, 1888; married Mammie E. ______; died November 30, 1974 in Heard Co.
6. Mary J. Lula Duke, born November 1889.
7. William T. Duke, born June 21, 1892; married Addie ______; died October 17, 1968 in Heard Co.
