FOURTH GENERATION

John A. Lipham (c1790-1840) and Sarah ______ (c1810-c1880)

John A. Lipham was born about 1790 in Greene County, Georgia, the son of Abraham Lipham. John grew up in Greene, Warren, and Putnam Counties before marrying Sarah _____ around 1824. John and Sarah moved to Troup County on Georgia's western frontier by 1827, where they raised their young family. John A. Lipham died sometime late in 1840 or early in 1841 while his wife Sarah was pregnant. With only 6 young children in the household, John's older brother Daniel Lipham (at the time living in Crawford County) married the widow Sarah on November 30, 1841. While the two had no children of their own, Daniel "Lube" Lipham and Sarah spent the rest of their lives together, moving to Calhoun County, Alabama before 1860, and finally moving back to Heard Co., Ga. by 1870. Daniel died there prior to 1880, and his wife Sarah died after 1880. Both are buried in Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church in Heard County.
