Note: The original bible is owned by Andrew Buntyn of Austin, Texas, and was sent in digital format by Robert Buntyn of El Paso, Texas. Based on the entries in this bible, it may have originally been owned by Elcy Everett Buntyn, who may have begun making entries after the death of her husband Joseph in 1826. All the birthdates of her and her children through 1817 are entered in the same hand, probably at the same time. The marriage entries of her first two sons (married before 1826) do not list spouses, while the marriage entries of her last two sons (married in 1832) include the names of their wives, suggesting the entries were made subsequent to the first two. Finally, the first death listed is that of Joseph Buntyn in 1826, followed by Sally in 1827, clearly written in a different hand, or at least at a different time. All this evidence suggests the bible was purchased about 1826 by the widow Elcy Everett Buntyn. Her son James Everett Buntyn obviously inherited the bible, followed by his son Geraldus Everett Buntyn, both of whose families are fully documented within the bible.
