[507] WILLIAM2 DONALDSON (ALEXANDER BAN1) was born 1769 in Ireland, and died
April 28, 1814. He married BARBARA ALLEN WALKER September 06, 1792 in
Staunton, VA, daughter of ALEXANDER WALKER and ELIZABETH PATTERSON.

Before appearing in Kentucky, William and Barbara Donaldson
joined
in a deed with her mother, Elizabeth and her brothers and sisters and
their
wives and husbands to convey to John Walker the lands devised to them in
Alexander's Will in the year of 1796. Wm. Donaldson appears on the tax
rolls of Montgomery and later Bath County from 1797 until 1814, when
Barbara
was listed in his stead until 1825. Wm. Donaldson was one of the
first
Justices of Bath County in 1811 when the county was established. He was a
Lieutenant Colonel of the State Militia in the War of 1812, serving also
for
a period of weeks during the war as Acting Adjutant General of the
State
Militia. He resigned in 1814 and died the same year, intestate. His wife
continued on the family lands until the family was grown.
