Honolulu Aquarium Society

HAS Library update:

A very big mahalo to Glenn Takeshita, Joni Foo, Nate Garcia, Kenneth Kawamoto, Ray Kosaka, Lance Pang, Wade Shimoda, Moanalua Pets, and Pets Plus for their generous donation of books, magazines, and catalogs to our Library.

Thanks to our donors, the library is off to a great start. It has a variety of books and many magazines with a wealth of information. There are many general aquarium related books, species specific books, and atlases. The reserve book list also has many great books. Many issues from Aquarium Fish Magazine, Freshwater and Marine Aquarium, and Tropical Fish Hobbyist are also available. Catalogs of fishes and equipment are also included in the library.

Please feel free to browse the library before and after the meeting, and during the break. I will bring an assortment of library items to each meeting for you to browse and borrow. I will also have a list of the entire library inventory on hand so you may request to borrow a certain item that may not have been brought to the meeting. You may also bring in a 3.5 in. floppy disc, so I can copy the inventory information on it for you.

This is your library, and thanks to our many donors we have a wonderful selection. Please take advantage of this valuable resource.

Borrowing from the library is very simple. This is how the library will work:

1. Any club member in good standing may borrow from our library.
2. Items for loan (or a list of all items) will be available at each meeting. You may borrow the items at the meeting, or you may make arrangements with me to pick up the items at a later date.
3. All borrowed items must be returned in good condition at the next meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you are expected to contact me so that we may make arrangements for the return prior to the next meeting.
4. As of now, there is no limit to the amount of items that you can borrow. I only ask that you be considerate of the other members when you make your selections.
5. You will be responsible for the replacement and repair of any lost or damaged item that you borrow.

The *Reserve Book List* will also be available. These items have not been donated to the library, but are being made available to you by your fellow club members. you will have to make arrangements to borrow these items on your own.

By borrowing from the library, you must agree to the above rules. Please care for your library items out of respect for the donors, and so that others may enjoy them too. Your prompt return of the items will also allow your fellow members a chance to utilize the library.

I'm looking forward to loaning out many books and magazines.
