Where a Nation was Born
Charlottetown is alive with history and it is celebrated daily. Because of their role in hosting the 1864 Charlottetown Conference, (which by the way, led to the formation of Canada), the city is now known as the "Birthplace of Confederation."
Since that first "party", PEI's capital city has developed a reputation for hosting great events like the Festival of Lights on the July 1st weekend and Festival of the Fathers in the fall. Throughout the summer historical vignettes are performed daily at Province House National Historic Site and walking tours offer a local view of Victorian architecture, shops, cafes and our waterfront parks and boardwalks.
