The golf courses in BC are so spectacular that the PGA has designated British Columbia as an official "PGA Golf Destination".Once you've had the chance to play a few rounds in different regions of the province we know you will agree. There are over 250 golf courses in the province, many designed by some of the world's most renowned golf course architects - Robert Trent Jones Jr., Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino.
Golf, on southern Vancouver Island and the Vancouver Coast and Mountain region is a year-round sport, if you are willing to play in a little rain during the winter season, and what avid golfer isn't? Many Canadians, instead of heading south in the winter to take a break from the chilly weather, now head for Victoria and Vancouver areas, and golf is frequently an important factor.
You can expect to play championship courses throughout southern British Columbia without have to pay championship green fees. No matter where you choose to hit the links in BC, be prepared to be distracted - but in a most pleasant way. Waterfalls cascading down behind the green, mountains towering up beside the fairways, dense strands of Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar, sparkling lakes, ice-blue fjords or panoramic vistas. Add to this the good chance of viewing wildlife - white tailed or fallow deer, elk and coyotes are common sights on golf courses. Watch for eagles, and don't be surprised if a brazen raven should take a liking to your brand new golf ball!
Gold anywhere in British Columbia is an experience not soon forgotten - be it through High Country, the sun-drenched orchards or lakes of Okanagan Valley, the valleys and small towns of the Kootenays, the mountains and resorts of the BC Rockies, the unique and challenging courses of central and northern BC, or championship courses of Vancouver Island, Whistler and the Lower Mainland, you'll want to take a "swing" through BC!!
