THE STORY OF SANTA CLAUS

This is the story of Santa Claus, as we know him today. Instead of just telling the story we will go to his home and visit with him and find out what Santa is all about. Before leaving though we have to prepare, as it is very cold up north. First let’s make sure we have a really warm hat to cover our ears to avoid frostbite. Then, we need a nice long scarf we can wrap around our necks and pull up over our face to cover our noses just in case we are cold. Next, let’s find those warm woolly mittens and socks so our fingers and toes will be toasty warm. Lastly we need our ski pants and coats. There now, all set to go. Let’s get on our way.

But, where does Santa Claus live you ask? How are we going to get there? Santa’s home is at the North Pole, which is a place where there is always snow on the ground. It is very cold up north and no one except for Santa; his family and pets live there. As transportation we are about to use our imagination which will take us there in a minute. Now then, close your eyes, clear you mind and think only of Santa and his home at the North Pole. Here we are, Santa’s home, that didn’t take us long to arrive.

What a wondrous site we see before us. This really is a fairy tale, too beautiful to be true. Everywhere you look is light fluffy snow, which seems to sparkle with diamonds as the sun brilliantly shines down upon it. Trees, tall, green, straight their boughs heavy with snow reaching towards heaven make quite the contrast against the white background. Look, over there towards your right, Santa’s house and workshop. It is magnificent, thousands of coloured twinkling lights surround the outside, making the log structure glow with warmth. Smoke rises from the chimney, curling about the trees as it slowly winds its’ way upwards towards the sky. As we approach the house, the door is flung open. There is Santa, his wife and helpers arms open wide in welcome as they bid us enter.

As we sit beside the crackling fire with dancing flames Santa prepares to tells us of his life at the North Pole as we warm our hands and toes prior to beginning our tour. He explains the only ones who live there are he and his wife Mrs Claus along with his helpers the elves that have become a part of his family. Of course, there are lots of animals outside who are friends and bring them great joy. Polar bears, penguins, reindeer and other animals play happily together, frolicking in the open spaces and hiding behind the trees. Although they have no children of their own, their only desire is for children all over the world that they dearly love to be happy and carefree. As we slowly rise to begin our tour, the smell of baking fills the house with wonderful smells of sugar cookies, cinnamon, and a variety of other scents.

Slowly we make our way through the house until finally we arrive at Santa’s workshop. At first you are overwhelmed with all the activity taking place before your eyes. Elves scurrying here and there while others sit at work benches concentrating deeply on whatever toy they are working on. As you glance around the room, your amazement mounts as you see toys in various stages of production. Slowly you turn around in a complete circle so as not to miss a thing, which is taking place in the room, filled with laughter, bantering and love. You see shelf upon shelf of toys placed carefully awaiting Christmas Eve when they will be packed into the sleigh that Santa rides. Never in your wildest imagination have you pictured so many different toys and games in one place, less than one roof. This is truly a place where dreams come true, a place filled with warmth, were each toy, game, doll or other object is made with love and that love is passed on to each child upon receiving them. All too soon it was time to leave the workshop and continue on with the tour.
