When Cincinnati's Channel 9 TV station decided to create an Internet edition of the news
I decided that it would be a good way to let my far-flung children (who both have access
to the Internet) to keep up on their hometown news so I added a link to it to my home page. Now, like the rest of the World Wide Web, Cincinnati's use is greatly expanded
with both of our local newpapers and three of the four major TV stations sponsoring their
own pages along with one from our neighbor to the north, Dayton, and two weekly
papers from Oxford, the home of Miami University just up the road a piece and Fairfield which lies just north of Cincinnati. I have now
reached the point where I find I am getting most of the news I get from these WWW sources - what a great way to use the old computer.
And any good news report includes the latest on the weather so here is the latest on the
Cincinnati weather.
In 1997 an added feature of the weather is the effect of El Nino. which affects the
weather world wide, on our own weather picture. El Nino has
been followed in 1998 by its counterpart, La Nina. A collection of links to various
systems around the world which contain the latest news on El Nino/La Nina is maintained by
the U. S. Government weather experts. Follow their predictions and compare to the
actual results for the next year or so.

Channel 19, the Fox affiliate, has shown no indication that they
will be joining the parade but I have to believe that it is only a matter of time.
I have many links to online newspapers around the world in my
Hotlist but my favorite for a quick look at the news is the
Boston Globe -
particularly the area entitled "Breaking News" where news stories are updated
every 30 minutes for national, world, business and sports as well as several other
categories of lesser interest to me.
