The Balkan Crisis

With the growing United States involvement in the war/peace in Bosnia the Department of Defense has entered the World Wide Web with their own WWW page - BosniaLINK - an up-to-date compilation of press releases, text of speeches, briefings, maps of the scene, etc. in this war-torn region. This site contains not only up-to-date information on the situation in the area but also has links to other WWW sites with pertinent informaiton such as the Department of State and the United Nations. You can be as up-to-date as all the news services on the information being supplied to the media by the various governmental agencies involved.

Now, in March of 1999, the crisis in Bosnia has somewhat cooled down but a greater crisis in the Yugoslavia province of Kosovo has erupted and even threatens a new World War. There are still a number of sites with information on this important area that can be reached on the Internet.

The Kosova Press, the voice of the Kosovo Liberation Army, gives the facts from the perspective of the ethnic Albanian forces in Kosovo. That is, of course, assuming the Serbian army has not shut them down yet.
The Kosova Crisis Center provides yet another view of the crisis from the perspective of the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
Finally Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberation presents the situation from the viewpoint of the NATO allies.
Radio Yougoslavia gives the Serbian perspective of the crisis. Much of the information at this site is audio radio broadcasts (which can be heard using "realAudio") in a number of languages including English. Remember that this one is controled by the government of Serbia.
