Red Square sachet
(Original design by Daphne Mah - 1999)

Materials used :    
- Tulip Steel hook #1 (1.6mm) & # 3 (1.3mm)   
- Minlon Family - red    
- Minlon Family - yellow   
- Sewing thread - red   
- 1/4" width satin ribbon - white
- scented potpourri (wrapped in scraps of netting material)  - method   

Instruction :    
Using hook #1 with yellow thread, ch6, sl st to form ring.   
Rnd 1 : Ch1, 16sc into ring.  Sl st to 1st sc to join.  Fasten & break off yarn.  Weave in loose end.   
Rnd 2 : With red, join with sc to 1st sc of rnd 1.  Work (sk 1 st, 3ch, sc into next st) 7 times,   
           sk 1 st,  ch3, sl st to 1st sc to join.   
Rnd 3 : Into 1st loop, work (sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc).  *Into next loop, work (sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc).   
           Repeat from * around, ch1.   
Rnd 4 : Working with petal flipped forward towards you, ** bring hook from behind petal, over next sc   
            of rnd2, yo, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook, ch6.  Repeat from ** around.     
            Sl st to beginning st to join.   
Rnd 5 : Into each 6ch-loop, work (sc, hdc, 5dc, hdc, sc).  Sl st to 1st sc to join.   
Rnd 6 : Ch6, ***sc into 3rd dc of petal, ch3, dc into st in between petals, ch3.  Into 3rd dc of next petal,    
            Work (dc, 2ch, dc, 2ch, dc), ch3, dc into st between petals, ch3.  Repeat from *** around.   
            Sl st to 3rd ch to join.   
Rnd 7 : Ch4, dc into next sp, ^ch1, dc into next sc, ch1, dc into next sp.    
            Work (1ch, dc into next dc, 1ch, dc into next sp) twice, ch1 into next dc, work (1dc, 1ch) 3 times.    
            Work (dc into next sp, 1ch, dc into next dc, 1ch) twice, dc into next sp.  Repeat from ^ around.    
            Sl st to 3rd ch to join.   
Rnd 8 : Ch1, work (sc into next sp, 3ch) around.  Work (1ch, hdc to 1st sc ) to join.   
Rnd 9 : ^^Into next loop, work (dc, 3ch, sl st to 3rd ch from hook, dc) , sc into next loop.   
             Repeat from ^^ 3 times more,   ^^^Into next loop{corner loop}, work (dc, 3ch-picot) 3 times,   
             dc into same loop, sc into next loop^^^.     
             ^*^{Into next loop, work (dc, 3ch-picot, dc), sc into next loop} 6 times^*^.  Repeat from ^^^ to ^^^.   
             Repeat from beginning of ^*^ 2 more times.  Repeat ^*^ to ^*^ 2 times.  Sl st to 1st dc to join.     
             Fasten & break off yarn.  Weave in all loose ends.  (Front piece made)   

For back piece : Work as for front piece from Rnd 1 to  Rnd 8.     
                         Fasten and break off yarn.  Weave in loose ends.   

To make potpourri cover  
Cut 2 pieces of 'netting' (or fabric) about the size of sachet to rnd 6.   
Using sewing thread of same colour as fabric (red) and hook #3 (or suitable size for the thread used),   
crochet around the edges of the 2 pieces together with (sc, ch1) around.  Stuff in potpourri and close up   
opening.  Fasten and break off thread.  Weave in loose ends.   

To make up  
Place the 2 pieces wrong side together, with front facing.  Weave in ribbon between dcs in Rnd 7.   
Make a bow at the corner meeting point.  Attach another piece of ribbon in corner 3ch-loop of back piece 
behind bow for hanging.   

Note :    
3ch-picot   
Ch3, insert hook into 3rd ch from hook, yo, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook (3ch-picot made)   
  
Variation : Rnd 5 onwards can be worked with a different colour so that 'flower' will look more distinctive.
