Change Purses

Change Purses 
   
Materials used :
 - Crochet hook 3/0
 - Minlon Silvery Thread (or Omega Nylon #2 or size 10 thread)  
 - 2" Gold Purse Frame (Darice) 
 - 0.5" button 
 - needle  


Note :
Purses are made with 2 strands of Minlon Silvery thread,
which is equivalent to 2 strands of Omega Nylon #2 or 1 strand of size 10 thread

Gauge : 10sc rows = 1.25 inches, 15sc = 2 inches
(only applicable for purse with frame to fit frame)

Begin each row/rnd with ch1, sl st to first st to end round unless otherwise stated.
Turn after each row, unless otherwise stated.

Instruction for Change Purse with frame
Rnd 1 : Using 2 strands of thread, ch19, 2sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc each into next 16ch, 
            3sc into last ch.  Working on the other side of ch, 1sc each into next 17ch. (38sc)

Rnd 2 : Inc twice, 1sc each into next 16sc, inc into next 3sc, 1sc each into next 16sc, 
            inc into last sc. (44sc)

Rnd 3 : (Inc, 1sc into next sc) twice, 1sc each into next 16sc, (inc, 1sc into next sc) 3 times, 
            1sc each into next 16sc, inc, 1sc into last sc. (50sc)

Rnd 4 : (Inc, 1sc each into next 2sc) twice, 1sc each into next 16sc, (inc, 1sc each into next 2sc) 3 times, 
            1sc each into next 16sc, inc, 1sc each into last 2sc. (56sc)

Rnd 5 - 10 : 1sc into each sc around.  (56sc)

Rnd 11 : 1sc into first sc, sk 1sc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1sc,  work(1sc into next sc, sk 1sc, 3dc into next 
              sc, sk 1sc) around. (14 shell made)

Rnd 12 : Ch3, dc into same sc, sk 1dc, sc into next dc, (sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1dc, sc into next dc)
              around,  1dc into first sc, sl st to 3rd ch to join.  (14 shell made)

Rnd 13 : 1sc into first st, sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1dc, work(sc into next dc, sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc,      
              sk 1dc)around, sl st to first sc to join.  (14 shell made)

Rnd 14 - 19 : Repeat (Rnd 12 and Rnd 13) 3x.

Rnd 20 - 21 : 1sc into each st around.  (56sc)
Fasten and break off yarn, leaving long end for sewing to frame.
Thread end to needle and sew to purse frame, weave in loose end.

Instruction for Small Change Purse with button
Rnd 1 : Using 2 strands of thread, ch21, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc each into next 19ch. 
            Working on the other side of ch, 1sc each into next 20ch. (38sc)

Rnd 2 : 1sc into first sc, sk 1sc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1sc,  work(1sc into next sc, sk 1sc, 3dc into next 
            sc, sk 1sc) around. (10 shell made)

Rnd 3 : Ch3, dc into same sc, sk 1dc, sc into next dc, (sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1dc, sc into next dc)
            around,  1dc into first sc, sl st to 3rd ch to join.  (10 shell made)

Rnd 4 : 1sc into first st, sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc, sk 1dc, work(sc into next dc, sk 1dc, 3dc into next sc,      
            sk 1dc)around, sl st to first sc to join.  (10 shell made)

Rnd 5 - 11 : Repeat as per Rnd 3 and Rnd 4 alternately.

Rnd 12 : 1sc into each st around.  (40sc)

Flap 
Determine exact position of st to start flap, then work as follows : 
Row 1 : 1sc each into next 20sc.  (20sc)

Row 2 : Dec, 1sc each into next 16sc, dec.  (18sc)

Row 3 : 1sc into each sc across.  (18sc)

Row 4 : Dec, 1sc each into next 14sc, dec.  (16sc)

Row 5 - 6 : 1sc into each sc across.  (16sc)

Row 7 : Dec, 1sc each into next 12sc, dec.  (14sc)

Row 8 : Dec, 1sc each into next 10sc, dec.  (12sc)

Row 9 : 1sc into each sc across.  (12sc)

Row 10 : Dec, 1sc into next sc, ch6, sk 6sc, 1sc into next sc, dec.  (10st)

Row 11 : Dec, 1sc each into next 6ch, dec.  (8sc)
Fasten and break off yarn, weave in loose end.

Rev. sc around flap and top of purse, fasten and break off yarn, weave in loose end.

ButtonRnd 1 : Ch2, 6sc into 2nd ch from hook.  (6sc)

Rnd 2 : Inc into each sc around.  (12sc)

Rnd 3 : 1sc into each sc around.  (12sc)

Rnd 4 : Holding button on wrong side of work, dec around.  (6sc)
Fasten and break off yarn.  
With needle, weave yarn around stitches of Rnd 4, pull to tighten, secure end and weave in loose end.

Sew button to purse corresponding to button hole position.

Sling purse variaton : 
Using thicker yarn (eg. Needloft or J&P crochet nylon), with appropriate hook size (i.e G6) work as per Change Purse with button instructions, using a slightly bigger button to match size of button hole. Work required length for strap using 'parallel chain' cord method and attach to purse.
 Stitches used :  
 inc : 2sc into next st
 dec : sc next 2st together 
 rev. sc. : Reverse single crochet
