'Donnell' Pullstring bag

 'Donnell' pullstring bag 
   
 Materials used :     
 - Hook F5 
 - Sugar 'n' Cream - variegated yarn 
 - 2 wooden beads 
  
* No gauge given b'coz these bags can be crocheted to your own prefered size using your prefered yarns.   

 Note : Be sure to have a multiple of 7 stitches (per motif) if you need to enlarge the size of your bag.   
             Instruction here is for 9 'shell' motifs repeats (total stitches for  9 motifs : 7 x 9 = 63 sts)   

 Instruction :     
 Rnd 1 : Ch4, 15dc into 4th ch from hook, sl st to 3rd ch to join.(16st) 
 Rnd 2 : Ch3, 1dc into same st, 2dc into each st around, sl st to 3rd ch to join. (32st) 
 Rnd 3 : Ch3, 1dc into same st, 1dc into next st, work(2dc into next st, 1dc into next st) around.  
             Sl st to 3rd ch to join. (48st) 
 Rnd 4 : Ch3, 1dc into same st, 1dc each into next 2sts, work(2dc each into next st, dc into next 2sts)  
             around.  Sl st to 3rd ch to join. (64st) 
 Rnd 5 :  Working in back loops only, ch3, 1dc into each st until last 2sts, 2-dc dec st into last 2sts,  
             sl st to 3rd ch to join.  (63sts) 
  
 Beginning of motif rounds : 
 Working in both loops 
 Rnd 6 : Ch3, dc into next st, sk 2sts.  *Into next st, work (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) [1 shell made],  sk  2sts,  
             1dc each into next 2sts.   Repeat from * around, sl st to 3rd ch to join.  
 Rnd 7 :  FPsc into same st, ch2 [1 beginning FPdc made], FPdc into next st, **1 shell into sp of  
              next shell, FPdc each into next 2sts.  Repeat from ** around, sl st to 2nd ch to join. 
 Rnd 8 - 17th : Work as Rnd 7. 
 Rnd 18 : Ch1, ***sc into 1st dc of next shell, ch3, sc into next dc, ch3, sc into sp of same shell,  
               work (3ch, sc into next dc) twice.  Repeat from *** around.  Sl st to 1st sc to join.  
               Fasten and break off yarn.  Weave in loose end. 

 Flowers 'stopper' for pullstring. 
 Bottom flower 
 Ch4, sl st to 1st ch to form ring. 
 Rnd 1 : Ch1, 12sc into ring, sl st to 1st sc to join. 
 Rnd 2 : Ch6, work (1dc into next st, ch3) 5 times.  Sl st to 3rd ch to join. 
 Rnd 3 : Into each sp, work (sc, 4dc, sc) around.  Sl st to 1st ch to join.  
             Fasten & break off yarn.  Weave in loose end. 

 Top flower 
 Ch4, sl st to 1st ch to form ring. 
 Rnd 1 : Ch1, 6sc into ring, sl st to 1st sc to join. 
 Rnd 2 : Ch3, into same st,  work 2-dc puff, ch3, sl st to same st. (1 petal  formed) 
             Work (sc into next st, ch3, 2-dc puff into same st, ch3, sl st to same st) 5 times. 
             Fasten & break off yarn.  Weave in loose end. 
 
 Shoulder sling/strap 
 Ch140, (or your required length),  Rev sc into 2nd ch from hook, work (ch1, sk 1ch, Rev sc into next ch) 
 along chs and on the other side of ch.  Sl st to end.  Fasten and break off yarn.  
 Leave a long tail for joining to bag. 

 Small flower for strap ends (make 2) 
 Make a loop, into this loop, work (ch2, 2-dc puff, ch2, sl st into loop) 5 times.   
 Fasten and break off yarn.  Weave in loose ends. 
 
 Make 1 Pullstring cord of approx. 28" 

 Finishing :     
 Weave in pullstring cord around, behind FPdc of Rnd 16. 
 Insert both ends into center of bottom flower from behind, then, through top flower in same fashion. 
 (this is use as 'stopper' for pullstring).  
 Insert one wooden bead into each ends of pullstring, making a knot after inserting ball. 
  
 Sew shoulder strap to FPdcs on either side of bag, tack small flower on top of strap ends. 

  Stitches used : 
 FPsc : Front Post single crochet 
 FPdc : Front Post double crochet 
 Rev sc : Reverse single crochet 
 2-dc puff : 2 double crochet puff
