PA in 1793/4 Roxanna: Is supposed to be direct lineage to Stuarts of Scotland, but papers were lost when French Privateer capured ship on which they were immigrating to AM

SC, buried: Moffett-Strong-McDill graveyard.  Grave is unmarked John: For further Peden references, see "The Pedens in America" by Eleanor M. Hewell of Greenfille SC.  Some stories place the Pedens first settling in PA and later moving to SC.  Many from Chester County PA (including Creswells) did so, taking the name "Chester Co." with them. Hogue says first home was Spartanburg SC  Hogue places most of children in Greenville Co, SC. Grave is unmarked. For further info on lineages, see Peden file.

3.      Thomas H. McDill (1.John1) born 1725, Broughnow, Ireland, ref: McDills in AM, married 1760, in Ireland, Margaret (Chestnut) Chesnut, born Nov 1, 1739, Ireland, (daughter of David (Chestnut) Chesnut and Jennette (Jenet) (Jane) Brown) ref: McDills in AM, died Dec 6, 1827, Chester CO. SC, buried: Strong graveyard Chester SC.  Thomas died Dec 4, 1794, Chester Co., SC, buried: Strong graveyard, Chester SC.  On their way to AM, the ship crew mutinied and threw captain overboard.. They planned to sell immigrants as slaves in Bermuda. Thomas mixed with crew, and under his leadership overpowered the mutineers.  He then sailed ship to Charleston.  Some accounts place landing at New York or Chesapeake Bay, where they supposedly spent some time in PA before going to Little Rocky Creek, SC. However, could be the Thomas Madill arriving on Rev. Martin Fleet ship James and Mary.

IL.  Came to AM with parents in 1772 Margaret: They left SC in Apr, 1802, arrived at Roseville OH May 20, where they remained until Mar, 1808, when they moved to Preble Co. OH.  Moved May, 1836 to Henderson IL.

SC, (son of Samuel (Chestnut) Chesnut and (?)) ref: McDills in AM, occupation Merchant - Columbia SC, died c. 1840/50, Dalles Co. AL.  Margaret died c. 1830/40, Dalles Co. AL.  Some sources say in Chester Dist, SC - perhaps where birth was registered. William: This family moved to Dallas Co, Alabama, In April 1823 James Strong  apparently owned property and gave McDill,Moffett,Chestnut,Smith,Brown and Mills families permission to enlarge cemetary "on William Chestnut's old place" - the Strong,McDill-Moffett Burial Ground. 6 children listed in Lonsdale records.

Churchyard.  William: Married his 1st cousin.  This family moved to Mississippi in 1852.  His tombstone said "Murdered".  Court case said John Stormont (son of John and Elizabeth Maybin) stormont and 2 other men were charged with "beating up" william in front of the Chester Co. Courthouse.  William died 8 days later. John was acquitted, and the other 2 men indicted. Marriages confusing!  LDS has (prob. wrong) other ch as Nancy, Jennette, Mary A. and Rose Anna, who were James Stormont/Jane Sproull's children.

Per will of James Meek. Graham has b. Dec 28, 1799.  Graham also has d. May 11, 1874, buried Alexander Cemetary. Apparently Graham has different Alexander, or this one is wrong, in that Graham has wife Jane Alexander, b. Mar 23, 1822 KY, d. Jun 6, 1878, bur. Alexander Cemetary all Todd Co., KY
