Records only indicate that James was a relative of Catherine, perhaps cousin as here. If Scottish nomenclature is followed, the first son is generally named after the paternal grandfather - thus James's first son is named Samuel. All other found Samuels don't meet age/time criteria to be James's father.

However, LDS has parents as David Creswell and Isabell (?). (?): Poss McAdow per [email protected] See note of David (Robert's brother) re McAdow will. It would not have been Mary in later lineage, because her b. date would preclude being the mother of Robert's first 2 children. LDS also has (?) McAdow. LDS also has marriage bf. 1751 in PA (?).
