CALIFORNIA TRIP REPORTS

A blue dot, indicates a trip report by the editors of this page. A green dot, indicates a trip report we received from a reader of this page.

Since we are based in California, it goes without question that we will have the most trip reports on this page. Welcome to our beautiful home state. Choose from any of the reports below or go to the Los Angeles area through the link above.

Amador County, do you know where the very first nugget that started California's Gold Rush was found? We'll take you to the exact spot and sample some superb wine along the way.

Campo, ride the rails on this historic journey along the border badlands area of eastern San Diego County. This is a fun and very low budget getaway.

Central Coast, halfway between L.A. and San Francisco lies a magic coast along Highway 1. A guy buy the name of Hearst also built a castle here.

Central Coast - Another View, even more information about the Central Coast and Hearst Castle. Submitted by Carolyn Olney, this report also includes elephant seals, Cambria, and dogs.

Deserts of San Diego County, probably the most isolated country in the southern part of the state, come along to Anza-Borrego Desert and Julian.

Elk, one of the most isolated and beautiful spots on the Northern California coast.

Getty Art Center, L.A's newest and, some say, best art museum. It's definitely the richest.

Kernville, along the banks of the mighty Kern River. River running and great Italian food.

Knott's Berry Farm, simply the best theme park in California. This is the new updated report with a link to the older one included.

Monterey Bay, we're on a mission to find good food and classic rollercoasters.

Route 66, Steinbeck's Mother Road ends its trek from Chicago here in LA. Want to see how to get your kicks (ps: no car required)?

Sacramento, the state's capitol, is now Governator country.

San Francisco, the city by the bay is a very exciting, beautiful, and active destination. Come along with us as we test its accessibility.

San Luis Obispo, the halfway point between San Francisco and Los Angeles along the coast route also makes a fine destination all on its own.

"Travels with the Commissioner"is the daily diary of California's Transportation Commissioner, Dana Reed, who parked his car and used nothing but California public transit for one month. It's a frank, and sometimes eye-opening account of the state of our transit system.

Universal Studios Hollywood, is not actually in Hollywood (it's between Burbank & North Hollywood) but is still a fun way to see a working movie studio.

Westley, simply the world's best rest stop.

Yosemite & the Gold Country, one of the most beautiful & famous spots on earth shares its front yard with the Golden State's Golden History.

Yosemite Ski Trip, inexpensive adaptive skiing available at one of the world's most beautiful spots.
