BONJOURs Best
Awarded to sites that by my subjective opinion offer a significant contribution to Genealogy on the Net. Fred

Gene Stark's Genealogy Page Gene Stark is principly responsible for two significant contributions to genealogy on the WWW. These are not Flashy sites, they are graphically DULL, but functional. The first contribution is the GED2HTML program. GED2HTML is a program that inputs genealogical data in GEDCOM format, and outputs a collection of HTML files suitable for presentation on the World Wide Web. His second contribution is Gene Stark's GENDEX -- WWW Genealogical Index. This server indexes hundreds of World Wide Web databases containing genealogical data for over one million individuals, and gives you the ability to locate and view data of interest to you on any of these databases, without having to go and visit each of the databases separately.
It is the linking of many separate GED2HTML files residing on many sites via a common index that has earned Gene Stark's Genealogy Pages the BONJOUR's Best award. Many sites have compiled lists of surnames and genealogies via contributions, but this is a successful attempt to coordinate and link many different independent sites via a common searchable interface.
