In this section, you’ll find BSplayer unofficial faq documentation, the first 5 best skins and BSplayer’s ini/bsi structure.

- What is BSplayer? - How do I use it?

- BSplayer is the best video player for windows. It is small, fast, skinable and it supports every available file
format. Its strong feature is that it has support for ini/bsi files.

- Which are its requirements?

- BSplayer requires Windows 95(OSR2) with 32 MB RAM, Windows 98/ 98SE / ME with 64 MB RAM,
Windows 2000 or Windows XP with 128 MB RAM.
Windows NT 4.0 isn’t supported since version 0.84.460 as BSplayer requires DirectX 7 installed.
DirectX 9 is recommended for full compatibility.

- What are Ini/Bsi files and how do I create one?

- Ini files are small text files that contain all video information needed in order to start playing.
Moreover, they can contain options for viewing a movie suitable for your requirements.
Bsi files are identical to ini files but they are closely connected to BSplayer and if you double-click on them,
they launch automatically the player with the envolved settings.
You can create an ini file using a text editor (notepad) or using HWmaker.
The second choice is much more easy because it is faster as you don’t manually type the whole text
and you don’t have to know the ini/bsi file structure.

- Why should I use BSplayer?

- Because... BSplayer is skinnable, light and... free!! It uses ini files, a feature from MicroDVD player.
So, you can load your favorite videos with their own settings such as auto Full Screen mode, custom aspect
ratio, chapters, panscan and other. It supports external subtitle files (in text format) without using other
program like vobsub. It has very cool skins and a large variety of them to choose. BSplayer uses so little
CPU that even a PentiumII@400 Mgz can playback a divx movie with it.
Moreover, BSplayer can be placed into a cd along with the necessary codecs and run the movie without any program installation. You can find a guide for that inside the help file of HWmaker.
Another advantage of this player is that it has support for remote playback (WinLIRK).
Finally, BSplayer is loved by developers as it can be controlled by its SDK or by command line.
