When you are "into shidduchim" you may be surprised to be offered the same person from more than one source. You may mistakenly feel that this indicates that the proposed match is perfect. After all, everybody seems to be telling you the same thing.

Unfortunately, multiple offers really mean very little:

• The fact is that there is a limited pool of people who avail themselves of matchmakers' services at any given time
• Your geographical area is likely to be limited
• After ruling out inappropriate matches, the likelihood of receiving multiple offers increases
• The chances are still greater, since many matchmakers base their decisions on broad generalities
• If both the boy and the girl are listed in multiple databases, then it is practically inevitable that they will receive multiple offers

It is thus unwise to place too much weight on the fact that a referral came from more than one source.
