What if Israel is not a real place.
Zionists from the States (both those who do not plan to make Aliyah and those who spend most of their lives planning to make Aliyah) consider America as the Real World. Those from England, Australia, South Africa, or other Western countries entertain similar attitudes about their own countries.
Perhaps that is why this country does not spell its name "IsReal." Israel is not the Real World. Israel is not Real.
True, some Zionists may make aliyah for a brief time, but they are expected to return to the Real World as soon as they return to their senses. Their country of origin represents their Real World. When they go back "home" they blame Israel for not accommodating their needs. Their Diaspora friends, in turn, question their motives for foolishly attempting to live in Israel.
We've seen it happen all too many times!
