IMPACT : POLAR REGIONS

Vulnerability- High

Adaptive Capacity-
Low

Animals & Plants-
As temperatures rise and ice melts, many
species will be displaced. Some will be able to
migrate, while others may die off. Overall there
will be a reduction in the abundance of many
    species.

Endurance-
For centuries after greenhouse gas concentrations
are stabilized, polar regions will still cause the
climate to change for hundreds of years, causing
possibly irreversible impacts on ice sheets and
    ocean circulation.

Human Settlements-
Climate change will occur most rapidly here,
causing negative impacts on settlements dependent
on climate (fisheries, hunting towns etc.)

Water Resources-
Earlier spring peak flows will occur, leaving less
     water in the summer.
