Vulnerability- Low
Adaptive Capacity- High
Agriculture-
Some crops would benefit, but effects would vary.
Prarie/plains areas would see decrease in
productivity, due to increased drought.Animals & Plants-
Prarie wetlands, alpine tundra and cold water
ecosystems will be at risk, and adaptation is
unlikely to be possible.
Health-
Increased exposure to vector borne diseases
(malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever and
encephalitis) will cause increased illness/death.
The number of annual heat-related deaths will
increase.
Human Settlements-
Sea level rise will enhance costal erosion, flooding
and storm surge risk, adversely affecting costal
settlements, epsecially those on the Atlantic Coast.
Insurance will change (most likely higher rates and
reduced coverage) due to climate changes.
Water Resources-
Earlier spring peak flows will occur, leaving less
water in the summer. |
