Disease-
Global warming will increase the range of vector
borne diseases (malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever
and encephalitis) would cause greater risk of
infection.Heat-Related Illness/Death-
Number of heat waves would increase, and be
exacerbated by increases in humidity/air pollution.
This will cause an increase in heat related death
& illness. The impact will be greatest on elderly,
sick, and populations without air conditioners.
Hunger-Related Illness/Death-
In regions where crop yields are reduced due to
climate change, insecure populations will face
malnutrition.
Water-Related Illness/Death-
In regions where there is increased flooding, risk
of drowning & diarrhoel/respiratory diseases will
increase. In developing countries flooding will
cause hunger/malnutrition
Winter vs. Summer Deaths-
In developed temperate zones, the decrease in
winter deaths may be greater than the amount of
increase in summer deaths.. |
