Weyrling Lorelei
Written by: bleedtearsofshame

Name: Lorelei
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Junior Weyrwoman/Weyrling

Physical Appearance: Lorelei is a small girl, a few inches past five feet tall, and petite. Her pale skin, to her dismay, has more of a tendency of burning than tanning, and her hair is a chestnut brown, falling to the middle of her back in one long braid. Her eyes are a pale green, her eyebrows usually furrowed in an expression of worry or concern. Freckles are sprinkled over a round nose, giving her a younger appearance than she really is. She is pretty enough, but could never be described as beautiful. She is usually dressed like a proper hold girl, in a plain but well-woven blouse and heavy skirts.

Personality: Shy is an understatement for this girl. She is beyond quiet, afraid to speak to others that she doesnt know, and even those that she does, for fear of saying something wrong or making a fool out of herself. She hates social situations, as they usually make her feel anxious and panicked, but she will suffer through them with a quiet strength if she has to. She has very little self-esteem, always thinking that she has done something wrong or that she will do so. She loves to please others, finding self-worth in their approval, and thus is one of the hardest and most dedicated workers to even the most boring of tasks. Thus, she is loyal and dependable to a fault, but is never one to go out and have fun. All work and no play.

History: She was born to a Holding family on the Southern continent, the middle child of a large brood. Her siblings were all loud and exuberant, which one had to be to gain any sort of attention in a family with fourteen children. Her mother, delighted to find a quiet child among the lot, only encouraged the trait. This led to the child often being overlooked and forgotten, but the girl never seemed to mind. She was happy enough given some task to occupy her time, usually minding her younger siblings which she did with no complaints. Her childhood was filled with the typical childhood events, nothing usual or special or traumatic about it. It continued in the same fashion until she was seventeen turns old, when a green dragon arrived at the Hold bearing news that the Weyr had recently laid a clutch and candidates were needed to stand in hopes of impression.

And to the surprise of all, the green stepped past all of the excited young people, overlooking them in order to step straight towards Lorelei. The usually frightful girl was not afraid in this situation, thinking that the dragon was too beautiful to fear, a tiny smile tilting the corner of her lips. Lorelei was the only one searched that day, and she did not think of refusing. So she was taken to Cariz Weyr. When hatching day rolled around, she was just as nervous as the rest of the candidates. The eggs cracked open and their hatchlings found riders... Until few candidates and fewer eggs were left. The gold egg hatched, spilling out a beautiful dragonet that Lorelei cold not tear her eyes from. And to her utter surprise, the young queen chose her...

Dragon: Gold Corenth

Dragon Description: Corenth is a medium-sized queen, certainly not the smallest, yet certainly not the largest. Her hide is a dark gold, a rich and creamy color that is even and smooth throughout her entire body. At the moment, she is still growing, so she is still in the awkward gangly phase. Her wings are too large for her body, occasionally getting in her way, and her tail is on the short side. But for all of this unevenness, she is coordinated and hardly ever falls, for she is sure to move slowly on uneven ground, giving her a graceful air.

Dragon Personality: She is a determined dragon, which is hardly a surprise. She is overly protective of her rider, disliking anyone who causes Lorelei distress and harm, and is not above getting involved in any situation where her rider feels this way. She is proud and spoiled, loving attention from almost anyone, very much a queen in this way. She is hardheaded and stubborn, refusing to do something if she does not want to. But she would do anything at a word from her gentle rider, as much outgoing as Lorelei is shy.
