Weyrling K'dan
Written by: bleedtearsofshame

Name: Kdan (previously Koehdan)
Age: 19 turns
Gender: Male
Rank: Weyrling

Personality: K'dan is a quiet young man, one who has a tendency of burying himself into his work to avoid social interaction. Thus he has few friends, and his ability to make them is sadly lacking. He tries to keep his true emotions and thoughts to himself, though in the rare case when he has had too much to drink (the poor boy cannot handle his wine!), he has been known to blurt everything out to a total stranger. However, while training to be a Healer over the turns, he has developed the mask of cool professionalism, able to interact with others beneath this facade. With patients, he is compassionate. With others, he is merely polite to a fault. Now, only around his beloved Leeth does he truly open up.

K'dan is a determined fellow, one who will work as hard as necessary to achieve his goals, and he can be foolishly stubborn when he wishes. He does have one teeny tiny secret that he is slowly growing to accept- the fact that he is attracted only to other males. Now that he is living at the Weyr, he has become aware that such things are normal and accepted, nothing to be ashamed of. Impressing Leeth has brought this to attention.

He loved being a Healer more than anything in the world, and considered it easily to be the most important thing in his life. He had the terrible tendency of getting too attached to patients that he knew were beyond his reach, and when they died, he was completely devastated. Determination and quick wits helped him to gain Journeyman rank, and it was his own private goal to someday reach the level of Master. But impressing a dragon changed all of that.

Physical Appearance: K'dan is of average height, neither short nor tall. His body is lean, but not lanky, broad shoulders always pulled back in a straight posture. His hair is a fine black, strands falling down to brush against his sharp cheekbones in a constant annoyance that has a tendency of obscuring his vision, but he is too preoccupied with his craft to care about mundane details like getting ones hair trimmed. His eyes are a bright green, flecks of hazel and amber visible in their depths, surrounded by long and heavy lashes. His hands are gentle, long and almost elegant fingers that can calm distressed patients easily.

History: K'dan was destined to be a Healer, it seemed, as he was born at the hall to a Journeywoman who specialized in Herbology and her Journeyman spouse who specialized in Pediatrics. It was deemed only natural that he quickly gained an interest in healing himself, and the moment that he was old enough, he was enrolled in classes as an apprentice. To his delight, he found the lessons to be more than enjoyable, and he threw himself into them with a thirst for knowledge that couldnt be quenched. He was always looking to learn more, and there was always more to learn. Just a few months after turning eighteen, K'dan walked the tables to become a Journeyman, a feat that he is more than proud of. His first assignment away from the Hall was at a nearby Hold, large enough to require a fully trained Healer. However, the young man did not react well to the hidebound ideals of the Holders there, for although no one knew of his preference for males, they were vocal about their views of such 'immoral' behavior. When their words stressed him past his ability to work sufficiently, he requested a transfer. His request was granted, and he found himself arriving at Cariz Weyr, a place where it was hoped that he would have a much more satisfying experience.

To his shock and utter surpise, the day he arrived at the Weyr, he was searched as a candidate. Even more surpising was the fact that he was displeased by such a thing. K'dan wanted nothing to do with dragons. He just wanted to heal. But it would be disrespectful to decline the honor, so he agreed to stand. And to his shocked delight, a little green dragon found him. And he realized that his destiny was not with Healing, but at the side of his beloved Leeth.

Dragon: Green Leeth

Dragon Description: A pale green, small for her color, but by no means delicate. Her hide is a light colored shade, like the underside of a leaf in the middle of the forest. It darkens on her underbelly to a richer color, but not by much. She is relatively proportionate for her age, with no part of her too large or too small. She has a tendency of rushing, making her rather clutzy with a tendency of falling, but grace will surely arrive with time.

Dragon Personality: She is a sweet little thing, always nice and cheerful and chirpy, a trait that Kdan appreciates. She adores her rider and constantly tries to follow him around, which is not helpful when trying to eat a meal in the Lower Caverns. But she is eager to please everyone, especially her rider, and so she is certainly not a troublemaker unlike some of her other clutchmates.
