Landmark to upgrade to digital theaters
Landmark Theaters, the nation's
largest independent movie theater chain, cut a deal to install a
digital movie projection system based on Microsoft's Windows software in
its 53 theaters nationwide. But the Windows Media 9 software does not offer the film

Lawsuits target ads at start of films
The practice of showing commercials before
the start of movies defrauds the public and should be stopped, according to
lawsuits filed in Chicago against two movie-theater chains. The on-screen
commercials delay the start of films beyond the posted times, which deceives
theatergoers, the lawsuits claim.

Movie credits find new currency in retro images

doctor and a lawyer, pausing briefly to dally with girls around a pool and at a
swank party.
"Catch Me If You Can," Steven Spielberg's
film about a young con artist, has a fast-moving and clever title
sequence whose style harks back to the animated openings of several '60s
classics.
