December's Questions... it's a hair special!! You had your questions from head-hair to eyebrow hair... and I'm answering them!
Dear Rainbow Girl:
I have long hair, and am not priviladged to be of an African origin. How do I start dreadlocks, and what about upkeep?
Anna Blue
Dear Anna Blue:
Dreadlocks are cool! Real dreadlocks take a lot of time and energy and don't really work well on non-African Americans, so I don't advise it. Instead, do fake ones that you can take out and put in whenever you want!
Dear Rainbow Girl:
I hate my hair, its always in the way. What can I do?
Anonymous
Dear Anonymous:
Do something different with it! Look at this!
Dear Rainbow Girl:
I am an Oriental and have thick, shoulder length hair. When it's smoothed, it looks really great, but I have some major problems controlling it. Can you help me with this hair dilemma?
Bedhead
Dear Bedhead:
Well, first don't go to sleep with your hair wet. Take a shower a while before you hit the hay and let your hair airdry. Even though you hate styling products, try smoothing natural-hold mousse into your hair before it drys. Mousse has a nice natural hold and feel- it doesn't feel all gummy if you put it on wet hair. Try some shine enhancer products, they'll make you locks stay put and shine beautifully.
Dear Rainbow Girl:
My eyebrows are sooo bushy and I hate plucking. Is there a cheap and painless way to get them shaped?
Bushy
Dear Bushy:
Sorry, there's not really a cheap and painless way to pluck 'em. You basically have two options. To get them shaped for a sum (painlessly) at a proffessional salon. This ensures your brows look perfect. Or you can pluck your brows at home. It's not too painful if you hold a hot cloth over your brows for a minute before plucking. This opens your hair pores so the hairs can be plucked easier. Only pluck strays under the brows, and don't overpluck!
Dear Rainbow Girl:
I'm really sick of my dull brown hair colour and want a change. I don't have any money to go to a salon, so I think I'll dye it myself. I don't want to mess up, so how do you suggest I do this? What colour is best for dark brown hair?
Dull Hair Girl
Dear Dull Hair Girl:
Get a hair colour formula that lasts for 6-8 weeks instead of a permanet one. This way if you mess up or hate the colour, it'll leave in a couple of months. Pick a reddish, copperish, grapish, or golden colour that compliments you natural hair colour. Follow the instructions on the box to prepare the colour, then massage evenly over your locks. Make sure you get every little bit of you hair! Wait for how long the instructions suggest (the longer you wait, the stronger the colour), then rinse throrougly. If you want the colour to last long, use special shampoos for dyed hair when you wash.
