This is a letter to the Princes William and Harry.
Dear William and Harry,
Nothing can ever make up for the loss of your mother. I know that, you know that. But I hope that seeing the outpouring of sympathy and love toward you helps ease the pain of her loss.
I have never met you, but I know the loss that you're feeling. William, the press says that you will be their next "target" (or "victim"... call it like it is, right?). I hope this isn't true, or at least that you can learn to handle them. I've never supported tabloids, and now I know why. I'm just a few months older than you are, and I know that on top of all the things you're going through you'll now have to deal with this and start being "in charge." I have confidence you can handle it. If you ever need help, there will be someone you can count on (this goes for you, too, Harry). Even John Travolta offered to help, and you can't find a better guy.
Prince Harry, fortunately most of the limelight isn't focused on you, but that doesn't mean the paparazzi won't change their minds. You'll have to look up to your brother a lot in the near future, so try not to pester him too much. No matter what he says, he loves you. (I have a sister who's just two months older than you, so I speak from experience.) Your mother always wanted the best for you and always loved you. Never forget that, either.
Here is a verse that I love to think of when I'm sad...
He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.
Isaiah 40:11
He led your mother right into his open arms, and he will gently watch over you, too.
With tender sympathy,
Abigail Short ([email protected])
