I had my 100th birthday on October 28, 1986. I was a gift from the people of France given to the USA. I am a
symbol of freindship during the American Revolution.
From the ground to the tip of my torch I am 305'1" tall. My nose is 4 1/2' long. It is 354 steps to my
crown.
On the tablet that I am holding in my left hand it says July 4, 1776. I still stand on Ellis Island in New York
City. Why don't you take a trip to see me.
Who am I ?
I was born in Hannibal Missouri in 1876. When I was 19 I travelled to Colorado with my brother and married
James Joseph Brown, a successful gold mine manager. Within six years my husband struck gold and we
became millionaires.
In 1912 I sailed on the historic maiden voyage of the ship Titanic. My courage and generosity during the
sinking made me an international hero.
My survival of the tragic voyage deemed me the nickname "unsinkable".
Soon after, I used my fame to fight for women's rights. I became one of the first woman to run for the US
Senate. One of the other issues I fought for was a woman's right to fight on the battlefield beside of men.
Who am I ?
I was born in atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. I remember when I was a wee little girl of seven, my only sister and I built our own roller coaster in our backyard. I fell off of it at the end, but still loved it. I shouted from fun at the end.
I was a daredevil. I began doing what I was famous for at the age of 24. I had to sell my first important piece of my hobby because my family was having financial difficulty.
I married George Palmer Putnam. Every household spoke my name. I was famous across the country. I followed Lindbergh to England. I went all over the world.
I went solo across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii. I went solo a lot. I died going around the world. Nobody ever found my Lockheed Electra.
