Meet My Brownies

Hi there! Brownie Troop 3458 has 11 girls between the ages of 6-9. We live on McGuire AFB in New Jersey. We'll be posting this page with ideas for troops, stories about our activities, and pictures of our fun! Hope you come back soon!

We went camping in our leader's yard! Before we went camping we practiced firebuilding and fire safety, knife saftey, rolling sleeping bags and bedrolls, and we learned what to pack and not to pack for a campout.
We did pretty well for our first campout. We had stone soup for dinner, and we did a great job with cooking and cleanup. We went for a hike on the bike trail and that was fun. After our hike, we sat down to have a mini campfire and make s'mores when the storm hit. The wind was blowing very hard, there was thunder and lightning, and we had heard there were tornado warnings. Our leader decided it was time for us to move indoors so we all grabbed our gear and ran into her house. We camped out on her living room floor and watched Anastasia and we had s'mores from the microwave! Breakfast was suppose to be breakfast burritos but the flour tortiallas were a little soggy so we ditched them and had scrambled eggs with cheese and tomatos instead! We did our skits after breakfast since we didn't have a campfire and we had a lot of fun! Wanna see some pictures of our adventure?
We hope it doesn't storm on us when we go camping in the fall!

It's time for bridging, two of our girls are finishing up their Bridge to Juniors rainbow and are getting more excited as the days go by!

We're going to Hershey Park next weekend, that is going to be really fun! We'll have pictures and a story or two from that event! See you soon!

Happy Girl Scout Leader Day! Parents and girls, please take a moment on April 22 to thank your leader for a job well done! In appreciation of Earth Day we are exploring the World of Science and the World of Outdoors. We have planted flower seeds in a pot we painted ourselves, explored the freezing point of ice water, and will be working on many more science experiments and outdoor projects. Spring is here and our Hershey Park tickets have been bought! Now, when are we going and how are we getting there? Stay tuned for details!

March brings us Women's History Month and Girl Scout Birthday! We will be learning about great women in history and of course started with our founder, Juliette Low. We are planning a trip to a retirement home with gifts of Girl Scout cookies and tissue paper flowers (and of course cheerful faces) to brighten the resident's day! We will be working on the Listening to the Past and Her Story try-its.

We had a family swim night wirh Cadette troop 6013, it was a lot of fun!

February brings Thinking Day! We will be learning about Girl Scouting/Guiding all over the world. Our troop's primary focus will be to learn about the Girl Guides in England! We will be working on the People of the World Try-it and the Around the World Try-it. Our families will join us for an international food tasting day at the end of the month!

In January our troop will be exploring different hobbies. We will take a trip to the Bowling Alley, learn about new hobbies, and have a family hobby day. Our families will bring in a display of their hobbies to share! We can't wait to see how many of us like the same things and if anyone has an unusual hobby for us to learn about! Come back early in February for pictures and a story about our hobbies.

Hobby day was a huge success! We had lots of different hobbies to share from lots of members of our family! Cadette troop 6013 joined us to share their hobbies too. We also held an investiture for new girls and our first court of awards!
