Thinking Day

Thinking Day is celebrated on February 22 (Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, the founders of Scouting and Guiding in England, were born on this day!). Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world spend the day learning about Girl Guides and Scouts in countries all over the world. Thinking Day is a time when many Girl Scouts donate funds to the Juliett Low World Friendship Fund. One of the things this fund does is to help bring Girl Scouting to girls in countries all over the world. Many girls will recieve their WAGGGS pin on Thinking Day.

Brownie Troop 3458 will be learning more about Girl Guiding in England. We will learn the Promise and Law and try some activities that Guides do.

Cadetter Troop 6013 will be learning about the Muchachas Guias (Girl Guides in Spanish) in Panama! Songs, food and games will be just a few of the things that we will learn about and share with the younger girls in our community. Would you like to play a game that the Muchachas Guias play?

El Barco se Unde' (The Boat is Sinking)

Girls will join hands and form a circle. One girl stands in the center and calls out "El barco se unde', El barco se unde' as the girls skip around in a circle. When the girl in the center is ready, she calls out a number. If she calls out "zero", everyone kneels, if she calls out "one", everyone freezes in place, for any other number she calls, they must form small groups of that number of girls....example "four", girls would form small groups of only four girls, no more and no less. Anyone not in a group of four is out.
