Vox, in the earliest examples, was the Latin word for voice. However, it has been co-opted by Planned Parenthood in the last few years in reference to a network of independently running feminist organizations which report to the larger authority that is Planned Parenthood. The starting of this group was an instrumental even in the consolidation of the power of college and high-school age feminists, mobilizing them in the hope of promoting a favourable agenda to all of female kind.
Voxs strength lies in its ability to connect various feminist organizations, especially those in smaller locales who may be sheltered to a degree from the outside world. Sure, feminist groups at small colleges and universities may be able to accomplish a decent amount of activities on their own, but imagine just think of how it would be if 3, 10, or even 25 colleges worked together to get something enacted.
If the school that you attend doesnt have a feminist organization, Vox has tons of information about starting up an organization, dealing with a possibly unsupportive administration, and ensuring that members will continue going to meetings. By far, the most interesting and useful aspect of Vox is their online Action Center, which informs the public on issues that involve emergency contraception, abortion rights, and the like. Also a possibility on the Action Center is the ability to send faxes to your local, district, and United States representatives. These faxes, premade, detail exactly what is right (or wrong) about a certain bill or representatives voting record.
If this sounds like something like what you want to do with your feminist organization, go to www.plannedparenthood.com/vox, find the appropriate e-mail addresses, and get in touch. The people that run Vox will refer you to your regional contact, who can and will help you immensely. They are really kind and will send you the appropriate information such as the excellent pamphlet health! choice! activism!, which will go into more detail then I went into here ,and provide you with a ton of useful activist information.
