I have realized what is wrong with music nowadays. It is because people are making it too "white". Yea, you heard me right " White " . People like Pat Boone and Elvis got this horrible, horrible trend started by covering, respectivly "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard and "Aint Nothing But A Houndog" by Big Mama Thorton. The emulation of Black soul music continued into the 60s, with many various preppy white male bands trying to have the black soul sound. The best example of this was the animals "House of the Rising Sun". Both cultures, black and white, have been assimilating a little of each others sound, and that brings us into the 70s, when blacks actually mish moshed with whites in the music industry. Please note that while some grounds like the Supremes were famous in the 1960`s, they were just a fluke. Most black bands were not treated as well as opposing white bands. We now take a trip into the late-70s, which included Disco.... oh yes the dreaded D-Word. This was the height and the last hurrah of somewhat decent black music. All of the funk bands of the 70s ( Funkadelic, Chic,Etc) provided a wonderous background that still permeats the bands today. The music of the early 80s, with the gaining popularity of breakdancing was the epitome of black/white music. The mid to late 80`s, after the short rise and fall of popular glossy glam rock, showed white "hair" bands going back to their roots and having a older feel to them. This bands include Motley Crue and Cinderella. In the early 90`s, R&B actually makes a comeback, with bands like All-4-One and Boyz II Men leading the way with soulful singing. A new, aggressive form of "Rap" came across during this time, which lasted from about 1990-1993. This was called "Ganster Rap", and involved lyrics about drinking, smoking, and partying men. The most famous of the acts were the PMRC-Banned band 2 Live Crew. 1993 was a turning point for all music, and the downfall of all respective forms of music. Bland mixed-heritage music has invaded the airwaves and there is no stopping it.New rap music is simply just glossed over pop, and rock all involves the same things. This period (1993-1999) is the most banal of all periods of music on the pop level. This is the reason why i have made this page. Their are still very good independant bands coming out all the times, and perhaps one of them will gain populatity and change the face of music. If i can help one band become famous, then its worth it
