Shock Treatment by JMcQ.

Shock Treatment can only be called a cult movie if Rocky Horror Picture show, its predecessor, can be considered one of the largest hits ever in Hollywood. After Rocky Horror became large, Fox decided to give Richard OBrien, the creator, tons of money. Unfortunately, Fox didnt realize that it wasnt a good investment, and it was a commercial flop. But, for those fans who are lucky enough to find a copy, Shock Treatment is one of the best movies of the 1980s. It stands as a brutal attack on the ritualized conformity offered by the number of suburbs and the eternal pandering of goods by commercial television.

Shock Treatment has the same two lead roles, Brad and Janet Majors, as did Rocky Horror Picture Show. However, the people portraying these roles changed, as Barry Bostwick was tied up in another project, and Susan Sarandon asked for one million dollars to reprise her role, an amount that even an expanded budget could not handle. The movie takes place after Brad and Janet have been married and apparently fighting for a length of time.

Taking place in Denton (we never learn the state they are in), the couple goes to DTV Dentons own cable television station, in which we see a number of the extras from Rocky Horror. Also, this is not verified at all, but it looks like John Candy is in this crowd. If anyone has any information about this, please tell me. Brad and Janet are chosen to play on a game called Marriage Maze, which has as its emcee the same actor that played Dr. Everett Scott in Rocky Horror.

I shant divulge all of the details of this excellent movie, but I have to also say that Brad is institutionalized, and in a reference to Greek plays, a twin is definitely involved. The music isnt exactly like what one expects from the same man who made Rocky Horror, but it is still amazing. Think of your favourite 1980s synth-pop band, and make them better by a factor of 10, and you may have how amazing this stuff is.
