Few of my readers, I believe, would be familiar with the name of Jack Chick. For those of you who are not familiar with the name, Jack is a panderer of Bible Tracts. If you�ve ever been looking in your mailbox for mail, opening a book from the library, or going somewhere else public, chances are that you have seen one of his tracts. Applying what can only be called extraordinary circumstances and stupid plots to Biblical quotes, all of Jack�s tracks end the same, which calls about you to �Accept Christ�. That is not the issue here, as it is a mere annoyance to what horrid propaganda I received in the mail just a few days past.

With the name of "Battle Cry: Serving the Bible-believing Protestants of the World", one just knows that there is trouble brewing. The whole front cover of this magazine is about opportunism. When it is a tradegy (9-11, the numbers of children molested by priests), Jack calls for all Christians to move in and try to win souls for Jesus. However, when a group provides a lifestyle that he doesn�t think fits in with the King James� Bible, such as Heterosexuality, he accuses them of opportunism. However, being hypocritical is no where near the most frightening piece of this newsletter.

Chick has a strong WASP message running through all of his writings. He simply passes the Catholics up as wrong, and provides Biblical quotes to that effects. Jack goes off the deep end with his �Sodomites Targeting Next Generation�, which is simply wrong for so many reasons. Firstly, if one is to actually read any version of the Bible, from the Vulgate to the NIV, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked in their ways. The Bible does not say, in any passage, that these people were homosexuals. Attacking one of the most solemn days of the Queer movement, the Worldwide Day of Silence, he goes on to not have any real quotes to back up his story. He doesn�t even try to warp Scripture to serve his dangerous purposes. He does happen to use some of the tactics that the Right is so fond of, in quoting mysterious polls without giving any indication where their from.

It becomes even harder to mount an attack on the Jack Chick article, as it rapidly degenerates into a rant bashing creationism as the beginning of moral erosion in public schools. To show you exactly what we are up against, I will quote Jack Chick, from page 6 of his "Battle Cry", July/August 2002 : "Bible believers need to mount a serious assault on the evils being taught. Students are being told that homosexuality is an acceptable life style. The Chick track, Sin City, one of the new series of Bible tracks, makes it very clear that it is unacceptable."
