Guerrila Copy Editing by JMcQ.

Scamming copies is a relatively easy thing to do.

*First, become friends with the librarian or a copy person. Besides, even is you dont use their resources, having a friend is always good. But seriously, the main reason to befriend a librarian or clerk is to get on their good sides. This can benefit you in a few ways: 1) They will most likely turn a blind eye to your scamming 2) They might even help you in your scamming.

*When printing in a library or school, be smart. Either print out gobs of paper then a library monitor isnt around, or print out a garbage sheet before and after your job, so you can show the authority figure your report on Thoreau or the latest news about the war.

* Print out small jobs, so it isnt obvious that you are scamming copies. 5 trips to collect 20 pages of material instead of one trip to lug back 100 copies. The multiple trips really make it seem like you are a diligent student.

*There is an excellent way to scam those printers which take a magnetic striped card into a slot. For those that suck a card in, spit it out, take it in again, all you need is a tapped out card and a card with money on it, Put the card with the money in and take it out when the machine spits it out, replacing it with the empty card. The empty card will have the amount of the card imprinted on it. This, you will have eternally free copies.

*Finally, you can scam free copies off the c.m.s that have a numerical key pad. If you hit the pound (#) key and it doesnt do anything, good, but if it shows 1 yer fucked. If the c.m. is one of the prior kinds, you have two modes of scamming free copies. You can look for the manual of the printer either under the machine (in those that have cabinet doors) or online. In the manual look for copy code setting or its equivalent. There, instructions will be given on how to change the code. However, I dont recommend this, as it will be painfully obvious that you tampered with the machine. What worked well for me was entering 3-digit codes and hitting pound. Look at it this way, there are only 1000 numbers that the code could be, and the numbers usually arent changed that often.

Hopefully, these tips will help you if you have any other tips, e-mail me at [email protected].
