My grandmother and I had a fight about the pledge of alliance. I was sort o happy about the decision to ban it in schools. I certainly do not want my child to have to say those things. And its' wrong to make anyone do so my niece had a child in her class who was Hindu, yet forced to recite those words everyday one nation under god - well, whose god?
I certainly dont think that not saying the pledge means that I am not patriotic. Being patriotic to me means questioning the status quo, demanding from my government that they think, and do right by all people.
It is my duty as an American citizen to do so. People in this country are religious fanatics and do not understand difference. We are so concerned about religious fanatics elsewhere that we ignore our own, such as those fanatics that blow up abortion clinics and kill doctors in the name of god. But they are good people, right?
If you believe in Jesus you can do no wrong. Or so I am told.
