Hey, kiddos.
This is James again, with yet another editorial that will probably be forgotten in the not-so-distant future. Finally, we come to issue six, the issue that has had one of the shorter turn around times. Im not sure, but I think issues three and four had a quicker turn around time, but I feel better about five and six as a whole. People may wonder exactly what theme I was trying to create with this issue. Honestly, Im not even sure what I could call this hodgepodge of articles. Maybe, I should call it These Things I Believe, in both a jab at Webly from Touched By An Anvil and a silent nod to The Simpsons.
While it may not look the part, this issue has been one of most intensive for me. I have been writing on average a article per day, along with a number of zine reviews that have yet to be put up on neufutur.cjb.net. This brings me to another point. I have entered into a form of discussions with Adam from Unscene Zine (dont let the name fool you its not a zine, just a online resource.) about possibly acquiring space on his domain for my site. The upside for this is that I can escape the 500 popups that geocities puts on the site, but the downside will be the fact that various A&R boys will think that I am associated seriously with this goofball.
Getting back to this issue, though, would be a good idea. This issue has an extra few pages, something that has not happened in the prior nine issues of my zines. Moving up the page count will not decrease quality, though. In fact, by dropping Sions Story, I believe that the quality level has increased. As loathe as I am to admit this, I used the story for page filler instead of writing two extra pages of material. I apologize for all of my laziness during the last three issues in running that story. You may also know that the John Murdoch interview ended in #5. I hope to have an interview with NYC grrl-punk band The Hissyfits beginning in #7, and an interview with a punky clothing designer named Lindsay after that.
Issue #7 will be a split issue between Alyson and I. It will feature my #7 and Alysons Antigone #1. It will be a much better split on my end, because I will not have to do all of the issue in one night. What I consider my worst zine, in #4, is widely considered to be my best zine, due to the feminist sentiments contained within Alysons zine. Issue #8 will be the big gala issue, in which the top 100 zines will be listed for all to see. Ads are still available for it!
